Crown Royal to Sponsor the 2004 IROC Series
PHOENIX (Jan. 28, 2004) - Action Performance Companies Inc., the leader in the design, promotion, marketing and distribution of licensed motorsports merchandise, announced that a new agreement has been reached with New Jersey-based International Race of Champions Inc. that names Action Performance the exclusive licensee for the new Crown Royal IROC invitational race series.
Today's announcement outlined some of the important aspects of the agreement, which grants Action the exclusive right to create Crown Royal IROC Series merchandise for all product categories, including die-cast collectible replicas.
This season, Action Performance created the designs for the 12 IROC race cars. Each vehicle features its own personalized paint scheme that reflects the driver and will remain in place for all four races. In addition to the primary paint schemes that will appear at each race, all Crown Royal IROC race cars will include the official axiom: Be a Champion. Drink Responsibly., to encourage responsible alcoholic beverage consumption.
The shift to pre-assigned paint schemes, as opposed to the continuously altering car colors in previous seasons, is among the more noteworthy changes for the new Crown Royal IROC series. In addition, the Crown Royal sponsorship increased the value of the series championship prize to the largest purse in IROC's history: $1 million.
Crown Royal officially begins its reign as the primary sponsor of the IROC series on Feb. 13, 2004 with Race One at Daytona International Speedway. The remaining season will includes stops at Texas Motor Speedway on April 2, 2004 (Race Two), Richmond International Raceway on Sept. 9, 2004 (Race Three) and Atlanta Motor Speedway for the series finale on October 30 (Race Four). The 2004 Crown Royal IROC Series participants include Kenseth, Johnson, Harvick, Busch, Newman, Danny Lasoski, Steve Kinser, Yeley, Scott Dixon, Scott Sharp, Helio Castroneves and Travis Kvapil.

NASCAR Stars driving in the 24 Hour Race at Daytona this weekend.
PHOENIX (Jan. 27, 2004) - Action Performance Companies Inc., the leader in the design, promotion, marketing and distribution of licensed motorsports merchandise, announced plans to release a limited edition series of specialty Daytona Prototype collectible racing replicas. The cars will be reproduced to mirror those that are slated to appear in the 2004 Grand American Rolex 24 at Daytona endurance race at Daytona International Speedway starting January 31st and ending exactly 24 hours later on Feb. 1, 2004.
This year's version of the Rolex 24 has a decidedly NASCARĀ® feel, with four active NASCARĀ® Nextel Cup drivers taking on the endurance race challenge. Both Dale Earnhardt Jr., who ran the Rolex 24 in 2001 with his father Dale Earnhardt and veteran road racers Andy Pilgrim and Kelly Collins, and Tony Stewart have teamed aboard the No. 2 Crawford Racing Chevrolet Crawford DP03.
The Crawford DP03 chassis is one of a few that are approved for the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. Drivers Jimmie Johnson, of No. 4 The Boss Snowplow team, and Robby Gordon, who will compete as part of the No. 09 Spirit of Daytona Racing team, also will make appearances on the sports car series, with each team showcasing Daytona Prototype vehicles that use the Crawford DP03 chassis. The teams will be featured with primary sponsorship from CITGO, a refiner and marketer of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals, refined waxes, asphalt and other industrial products.
"With the array of new and varied races on the 2004 racing season schedules, collectors and race fans are sure to discover new ways to expand their traditional die-cast replica collections," noted Fred W. Wagenhals, Action's chairman, president and CEO. "The futuristic Daytona Prototype models that comprise the Grand American Rolex 24 at Daytona event offer a diverse way to change up any collection, and the fact that talented, young and recognized drivers will be behind the wheel of these interesting machines ensures added appeal for a challenging racing series."
