In his sophomore season, Rusty Wallace made his debut behind the wheel of a No. 2 race car on the 1985 NASCAR Cup Series circuit. Wallace drove the No. 2 Alugard Pontiac, owned by Cliff Stewart, to two top-five and eight top-10 finishes in 28 total races. He ended the season ranked 19th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings.

In January, more than 200 drivers from NASCAR, various sprint car and midget circuits, dirt tracks, late model series and the National Hot Rod Association, will descend on Tulsa Expo Raceway for the 19th annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals and the chance to claim the crown in the prestigious indoor midget race. Among the crowd, four fan favorites will take their shot that the Chili Bowl National’s Golden Driller trophy: Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne and J.J. Yeley from the NASCAR® ranks and Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws champion. Of these drivers, Stewart is the only one with a previous victory in the Chili Bowl event (2002). All four drivers will feature specially sponsored midget race cars. Both Stewart and Lasoski, who has driven the No. 20 Eagle sprint car on the World of Outlaws circuit for Tony Stewart Motorsports since 2001, will field midgets backed by Bass Pro Shops. Meanwhile, Kahne’s machine will feature Valvoline, and Yeley will pilot an Old Spice midget race car. All four drivers will feature specially sponsored midget race cars. Kasey Kahne scored a fun sixth career All Star win August 7th 2003 at Eldora Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car 30 lap feature which kicked off the Historical Big One weekend. Kahne thanked car owner Dennis Roth in victory lane. "It's cool to win at Eldora. This is as fun as anything I've ever won. To win running right up on the wall is a pretty cool deal", Kahne said.

In 1979, Richard "King" Petty earned his seventh and final "crown" on the NASCAR Cup Series. Petty used both Chevrolet and Oldsmobile to power his way to the championship with five wins, one pole award, 23 top-five and 27 top-ten finishes. He drove the No. 43 STP Oldsmobile 442 in seven of the 31 races, posting five top-five finishes in the car. He won one race behind the wheel of the No. 43 STP Oldsmobile - the famous 1979 Daytona 500.
